The Reel
The lightweight Shimano Torium 16PG Overhead Reel is a solidly-built star-drag saltwater reel perfect for live bait or bottom-fishing applications. It’s packed with features like Super Stopper, Cross Carbon Drag, Anti Rust Bearings and High Efficiency Gearing.

Hagane Body
The incorporation of Hagane Body provides this reel with a rigid yet highly durable outer shell that is free from body flexing, this transforms the angler’s actions directly into cranking power when under load.

A-RB
These stainless steel ball bearings are specially treated to drastically increase the corrosion resistance of the bearing. These bearings will last at least 10 times longer than standard stainless steel ball bearings in high salinity environments.

Super Stopper
Super Stopper anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides the angler with instant hook-setting power.

CF Aluminium Cold Forged Spool
These spools provide increased strength and durability over diecast aluminium or graphite spools.

High Efficiency Gearing
HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate, and handle-side sideplate. First we increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the setplate and adding a one-piece stamped sideplate, it eliminates the flex in the drive train that causes gears to bind under pressure.

The Rod
The Shimano Abyss SW Overhead Jigging Rod has been designed, tested, redesigned, tested, tweaked and tested again by Team Shimano and Tony Orton from Offshore Adventures and his busy charter crews.

Shimano’s latest range of blue water-centric rods is built on ultra-tough Shimano T45 graphite blanks and fitted with top quality Fuji SiC/SiN II guides and Aftco/Fuji reel seats. The all-new Shimano Abyss SW Overhead Jigging Rod is a dynamic, lightweight yet very strong tamer of the powerful blue water species like Kingfish, Bass, Hapuku, Tuna, Billfish and the mighty Broadbill Swordfish.
