The Shimano Talica 16 and Abyss SW Overhead Jigging
Combo is the perfect blend of strength and power that’s

The Reel
The Shimano Talica 16 Jigging Reel features a
tough drag system that allows you to fish three or four line
classes heavier than you would normally do on other reels. This
reel has a one-piece cold forged and machined aluminium frame,
treated with a proprietary surface process for cutting-edge
corrosion protection.

Shimano then added a lightweight cold forged aluminium spool,
oversized HEG (High Efficiency Gearing) gear, waterproof carbon
drag system and 6 S-ARB bearings for super slick operation. It’s
constructed to withstand massive drag pressures and a carbon drag
system has been waterproofed (when engaged) to handle salt water
spray. Spend less time fighting your tackle and more time fighting
fish!

Compact design
When you first lay your eyes on a Talica – it’s intriguing. When
you feel what it’s capable of – it’s amazing! Don’t let Talica’s
size fool you, this reel is a beast. It also features a double
anodised cold forged frame and spool, which makes it extra strong
and resistant to harsh saltwater conditions.

Unique anti-corrosion feature
This feature drastically increases the corrosion resistance of the
reel. E.I. is used on the spool, frame and sideplate – the most
common spots where corrosion begins. This, coupled with the use of
S A-RB (Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings) and drain holes to allow
saltwater to escape the reel whether sitting on a shelf or
vertically in a rack, gives anglers so much confidence in the
reel’s durability.

The Rod
The Shimano Abyss SW Overhead Jigging Rod has been
designed, tested, redesigned, tested, tweaked and tested again by
Team Shimano and Tony Orton from Offshore Adventures and his busy
charter crews.

Shimano’s latest range of blue water-centric rods is built on
ultra-tough Shimano T45 graphite blanks and fitted with top quality
Fuji SiC/SiN II guides and Aftco/Fuji reel seats. The all-new
Shimano Abyss SW Overhead Jigging Rod is a
dynamic, lightweight yet very strong tamer of the powerful blue
water species like Kingfish, Bass, Hapuku, Tuna, Billfish and the
mighty Broadbill Swordfish. It’s engineered not only to look
awesome from the tip to the butt section but it also completes MSL
tests of well over specified line ratings at 45° and 60°
respectively. And not only that, it’s built tough enough to handle
