The Okuma Makaira 20000 Spinning Game Reel is
built from the ground up to the toughest, most durable spinning
reel you can own. Made from the finest and strongest materials
available, the Makaira features Forged Aluminium sideplate and
rotor with Forged Stainless Steel Gears. Cyclonic Flow Rotor
increases airflow for faster drying time. Dual Force Drag System
plus a High Output Drag of 65lbs.

The special pre-set function sets the Makaira apart from other
spinning reels. Just like the Makaira lever drag, the Makaira
spinning reel DFD comprises a wet Carbonite drag system featuring
Cal’s drag grease for low start up inertia and extreme heat
protection. This pre-set features allows for precise drag setting
so you can customise base on your fishing style. Best of all, with
23 different seals the Makaira Spin is completely waterproof. The
goal in mind when designing the Makaira and that was to build every
component to withstand the harsh elements and pressures of a big
game environment.

DFD: Dual Force Drag System
The Makaira drag system utilises the complete surface area of the
carbon fibre drag washers; the system is engineered to make full
contact with the outer edges of the carbon washers, maximising
efficiency and the ability to deliver high drag outputs. The DFD
concept applies pressure to both sides of the spool in order to
maximise use of the available surface area, enlarging the working
surfaces of the drag system and dramatically improving heat
dissipation.

Forged Aluminum Housing
In order to build a reel with no compromise, Okuma engineers
constructed the frame, sideplate and rotor of forged aluminium.
They wanted to ensure stability, consistency and ultimate strength.
There are no diecast or injected carbon parts on this reel. There
are machined aluminum reel on the market, but the forging process
prior to machine cutting takes the Makaira to a completely
different level of product performance.

Powered by Forged Stainless
The Makaira spinning reel is in a class of its own featuring a
forged stainless steel, machine cut main gear. This reel is
designed for ultimate strength, but light enough to fish all day
long, which is why the main gear is ported and incorporated other
design elements to keep the reel light in weight, but strong in
power.

CFR (Cyclonic Flow Rotor)
Cyclonic Flow Rotor (CFR) is designed to create “cyclonic” airflow,
which significantly increases air flow through the ported rotor.
This thoroughly tested design allows for a much faster drying time
if the reel becomes wet, minimising corrosion possibility through
out the reel. CFR also creates a lighter-weight and a more rigid
rotor which reduces the flex and rotational coherence and creates a
more precise mechanical operation.

Dual Anti-Reverse
The Makaira spinning reel is equipped with a dual anti-revere
system, in order to match the same strength and integrity as the
rest of the reel. The Quick-Set anti-reverse features a top of the
line German stainless steel one-way roller bearing for maximum
strength and pulling power. In order to enhance the design further,
Okuma engineers equipped this reel with a backup system that
incorporated a ratchet that is mounted on the drive shaft on the
backside of the main gear.

Hydro Sealed Body and DFD
The Makaira spinning reel is engineered to withstand the most
brutal conditions the ocean can offer. To accomplish this, the reel
is equpped with 23 different oil-retaining o-rings and gaskets
making it impervious to the elements, and by making it water tight,
all the internal mechanisms are sealed and protected from salt.
